The Fidget Project was founded by neurodivergent parents, professionals and allies who know first-hand what it means to navigate a system that was not built for your family.
Our story
Why we exist
We started The Fidget Project because we could not find what our families needed.
In South Devon, families with neurodivergent children wait years for an assessment. Schools are under-resourced and under-trained. After a diagnosis finally arrives, the support often falls away entirely.
We were not prepared to accept that. So we built something different.
The Fidget Project is a community-led Community Interest Company – not a clinical service, not a referral pathway, not another waiting list. We are a bridge. A place where families can get practical guidance, understand their child’s needs, and find their way to the right support – without having to fight for every step.
We are rooted in real experience. Everything we do is shaped by the families we work with, and by the understanding that differently wired brains are not broken. They are brilliant.
